There are two paintings by the same name and very similar to one another;

The first was painted by Leonardo who did not paint Halo’s above the heads of the characters in the picture (Without Halo’s).

He was then asked to paint the painting again with this time adding the halo’s, which resulted in the second painting (With Halo’s).

There is a belief in the Art world that parts of the painting may have finished by the ‘de Predis brothers’.

Overall however, there is no dispute that is the work of Leonardo Da Vinci.

This huge wall painting was to be for the dining room of the Monastery where Leonardo's patron would come to eat with the Monks.

Jesus does not adorn a halo.
